Father's Day in Cades Cove

Well, Father's Day wasn't the same without the family, but it wasn't bad either. I took a bike ride in Cades Cove. These pictures do a good job of illustrating why I like TN so much.

Hi! Jon and I just returned from a short trip to New Orleans. Here's a few pics from the trip. Our favorite "discovery" on the trip - the oldest bar in the country (so-reported), Jean Lafitte's. It was an awesome hangout. Then, there's the fountain at Pat O'Brien's (our favorite night-time hang out), one of the many street performers on Bourbon Street, and another street performer who took a liking to Jon. He called himself "Bucket Man" and sang a rap dedicated to Jon with his head in a bucket. It was pretty funny. Then he gave Jon a couple of hugs and we tipped him for his troubles. Anyway, it was a fun trip despite the airlines.

Sarah's School Play

I flew home to Carlsbad on Thursday of this past week, and after 14 hours of travel with various connections and travel delays, I made it back with literally 10 seconds to spare before the final showing of Sarah's 5th grade musical, Peter Pan. She played Tiger Lilly, and was the only actor with a solo alone on the stage. After months of preparation and some tense nights before opening night, she did a great job and we were very proud of both her performance and her courage! The top picture shows her after the play posing with her friend, who played Wendy. The bottom picture shows her on stage, the captive of Captain Hook. We purchased a video of the performance, and when we get it, I'll try to upload a recording of her solo. It was a difficult song because of the range, but she handled it well.

Storm/Tornado

Hi, all. We had a tornado warning at about 2:30 a.m. last night. We sustained quite a bit of tree damage. We are fairly certain a tornado (a small one) skipped down our street. As you can see from the picture, our power pole was ripped out of the ground. We currently have no power, phone, or cable. Lots of limbs down. Whole trees down across the street. This one looks like it was twisted right out of the ground. We went downstairs before the sirens went off because of the high winds and scary noises. We went right to the laundry room and under the stairs. This was a scary one. We were lucky.

Mom said I should add a few pictures of the inside of Curt and Lisa's house.  So here they are.  These are pictures of the entry, the dining room and the kitchen.  There are also a living room, family room with fireplace, three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms.

These are some pictures of Curt and Lisa's house.  I did not include some pictures of the inside because they were just moving in when I took them and there are so many boxes etc. sitting around it is hard to tell what the room is like.

Here's a picture of Sean's kindergarten class singing the National Anthem at an Omaha Royals game a couple of weeks ago. Sean is second from the left.
