Sunset Over Ponto Beach

Took a walk on the beach after work with Sarah and Chris and shot this around 7:30. This is from Ponto Beach, the one closest to our house.

Miss Teen Carlsbad Pageant

Caitlyn had a lot of fun doing this with a couple of friends. She didn't win, but she did very well, especially answering unpredictable questions in front of a large audience, and giving a short speech in front of judges.

Visit to Anza Borrego Desert State Park

On March 15, I took a drive about an hour and a half northeast of our house to the Anza Borrego desert. If the winter rains hit just right, the desert explodes in flowers for about 2 weeks per year and then burns back away into desert. At the same time, Carlsbad has really bloomed as well. Although the winter rains were good while they lasted, they ended early and we're already below normal on rainfall. Unfortunately, it looks like another good fuel year for the fall fire season.

But we'll be gone by then. The day before this trip, I officially resigned my position with Weston. We're moving back home to TN. My new job is with Babcock & Wilcox at the Y-12 facility in Oak Ridge. I'll be serving as Director of Special Programs, which will include Waste Operations and Integrated Facility Disposition. The latter component involves consolidating the weapons program into a smaller, more efficient footprint, and will include building demolition and weapons complex modernization. Should be interesting and challenging. We're all looking forward to getting back to Knoxville, although Caitlyn (especially) will miss some of the new friends she made here. I will move out there around April 25, and the family is planning on joining me in July. Here we go again (for the last time)...

Easter Visitor
